About Us

I am the owner of Antelope Beads and my name is Kelly Wright.

I am a friend of Laura's, the previous owner and when I heard that she wanted to retire I jumped at the opportunity to take this over. She has created an amazing online bead store and exceeded the expectations of all of her customers. I wanted to carry that on. I have been in the jewelry business and online space for many years and I am very familiar with the product and industry.

On July 1st 2017 I became the new owner and moved the business to Florida.

You can read Laura's story below and know that I plan on continuing what she has built along with some of my new ideas and many, many new products.

Thank you for continuing to support Antelope Beads and I look forward to working with you all.

Laura's Story: Antelope Beads began in 2006 after a long journey for the perfect bead led me to Kazuri beads. I fell for the colors and textures of the high-quality ceramic beads, as well as the story behind them – Kazuri beads are handmade at a fair trade co-op in Kenya that primarily employs single mothers – and have been inspired by them ever since.

Since that first exposure to Kazuri beads, I have gathered what I believe to be a collection of Artisan and Fair-Trade Beads and Jewelry Components that is as inspiring as it is beautiful. Kazuri is where it began for me, and it provides a great foundation for an expanded Antelope Beads inventory that includes Dorabeth Designs high-quality pewter components; Clay River Designs handmade porcelain beads; C Koop enameled beads; Samunnat Polymer Clay Beads made in Nepal; an entire range of basic findings, chains and cords; and last but not least, the largest online selection of unique beads and components for the Regaliz Greek Leather and Euro Leather bracelets craze.

I view my involvement with Kazuri and the other products I carry as part of a “global circle” of women helping women, and artists supporting one another’s art. When I buy Kazuri beads from their Kenyan producers, I help them. Their beautiful product helps me grow a creative business that in turn advances the work of others who make and sell jewelry. Their efforts enhance their businesses or expand the creative hobbies of their customers, and generate income when those (primarily women) who make jewelry continue to try and share new ideas. What an exciting way to spread creative energy around the world!

I never could have dreamed of having so much fun running a business. We enjoy connecting with each one of you and hearing your stories about how these beads have touched your lives.

Antelope Beads is located in Gulfport, Florida. We are a web-based business that ships worldwide. We offer beautiful beads and findings while working to improve the lives of others.
